Welcome to our Engineering Faculty!

The Engineering Faculty was established as the first Faculty of Engineering in the Aegean Region in the city of Izmir, which has a history of 8500 years, has been the gateway of civilizations to the world since ancient times, and has preserved its strategic value with its natural riches until today, and has enabled an important educational and research infrastructure to flourish and take root here. To this valuable historical background, as one of the leading universities in the city, our Research University contributes to many projects in national and global research, taking into account the international research priorities and national priorities that have developed over time.

The Engineering Faculty aims to be a pioneer in the fields of education, research and innovation in today’s rapidly advancing technology and science. Our aim is to educate well-equipped engineers with ethical values who are recognized worldwide. In order for our students to maximize their academic and personal development, we provide all kinds of support in our 12 departments – Computer, Environmental, Electrical-Electronics, Industrial, Aerospace, Civil, Geophysics, Geology, Mining, Mechanical, Metallurgy-Materials, Textile – with our modern laboratories, advanced technology infrastructure and expert academic staff. We aim not only to improve the professional knowledge and skills of our students, but also to increase their competencies such as critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork. In relation to our country’s and international priority strategies, the Faculty of Engineering has identified sustainable development priorities in many areas from water resources to climate change, renewable energy to aerospace research, mechanical manufacturing technologies to fuel cells, clean production technologies to nanotechnology applications.

Our Faculty, which aims excellence for the creation and development of pioneering research capacities in order to ensure development in these axes, contributes to R&D studies in the public and private sectors by training engineers specialized in their fields. It is a center of attraction with its existing infrastructure for bright students who want to improve their education and training knowledge in our Engineering Departments, as well as for students from universities abroad, especially those with which we cooperate. In addition to the international exchange and research-education programs carried out/initiated in Europe, it aims to become an international education center in Izmir by matching its existing infrastructure with other research institutions and organizations on a global scale and strengthening its regional network. Our engineering programs are accredited by accreditation bodies such as MÜDEK.

Through our research and development activities, we aim to contribute to society and lead the technological transformation of our country by collaborating with industry. Our programs, research networks and infrastructure, which are prepared in accordance with the philosophy of education through research, are a center of attraction not only for our students but also for all researchers.

Our faculty is one of the important research institutions of our country in terms of developing complementary strategic collaborations and leading research by increasing its visibility in the eyes of national and global stakeholders as a leading actor with the research carried out in all its departments. In this context, it continues to share knowledge and experience through national and international projects, conferences and seminars. As a faculty, we aim to inspire our young engineer candidates and raise them as the leaders of the future, while preparing them to take an active role in academic and social life. We invite you as a stakeholder of our Faculty of Engineering, which plans the future with its students, graduates and all academic and administrative staff for the welfare of our country and all humanity.
