The Faculty of Engineering started education in 1969 under the name of Faculty of Engineering Sciences under Ege University. In 1982, when the Faculties of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Earth Sciences were abolished, the departments affiliated to these faculties and some departments of the Faculty of Fine Arts were merged under a single faculty and it continued to provide education under the name of Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Dokuz Eylül University as Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geophysical Engineering, Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning Departments. In 1992, it was named Faculty of Engineering as a result of the separation of the Departments of Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning and their affiliation to the newly established Faculty of Architecture.
The faculty reached its current structure consisting of a total of 12 departments with the establishment of the Department of Computer Engineering in 1994, the Department of Textile Engineering in 1997, the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in 1997, and the Department of Aerospace Engineering in 2021. The Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics is planned to start its academic activities by accepting its first students in the 2025-2026 academic year. The Undergraduate Education Programs of our Faculty Departments are accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Education Programs (MÜDEK) and have the EUR-ACE Label within the scope of MÜDEK Accreditation
